HOW DO I VOLUNTEER?

Volunteering begins with membership in ROWIA.

Your annual dues help fund the efforts at the arboretum. Your membership entitles you to special events and a quarterly newsletter .

Volunteer opportunities include:

Information Booth Host

Greets and fields questions from the public, sells merchandise, informs visitors of self-guided and naturalist-led tours and directs visitors to other natural sites on the forest.

Interpretive Trail Guide

Conducts guided tours of the arboretum's Sequoia Trail, highlighting the plants, animals, ecosystems and history of the San Bernardino Mountains .

Trail Maintenance/Patrol

Patrols and maintains the Sequoia Trail by removing litter, making repairs, servicing check dams and bathroom facilities. Also keeps watch for vandalism and answers visitor questions.

Demonstration Gardens

Introduces new plants, maintains existing plants, and helps with planning future activities/additions to the garden.

Thrift Shoppe

Training is provided for all positions and a minimum commitment of six hours per month is required.
