We are committed to making a positive difference and to maintaining our natural resources for future generations to enjoy.

What is ROWIA?

Rim of the World Interpretive Association is a California nonprofit, public benefit corporation founded in 1982 to foster a better understanding of the natural history and resources of the San Bernardino Mountains and recently, ROWIA instituted a botanical identification program.

To achieve its goals, ROWIA:

• Creates & conducts interpretive programs

• Leads nature walks

• Provides interpretive facilities

• Maintains & staffs the Heaps Peak Arboretum

• Labeling plants with botanical signs

ROWIA has few formal meetings. Instead, volunteers spend the bulk of their time in the field, accomplishing goals. Their focus is on doing something for the forest rather than just talking about it.

Each year, more than 100,000 forest visitors benefit from ROWIA's activities.
